(Alice) Thank you to our four volunteers, Angelica, Alena, Diana, and Sarah, we were able to successfully hold the camp for the fourth year in a row this last Sunday. A total of 42 girls from 12 different counties attended and everyone walked away with a brand new chess set and a step 1 manual to help them continue their learnings in the game.
Another special shoutout goes to all the parents who helped bring their girls to the camp even if they had to drive around an hour out of the way. I hope to see all of you at tournaments sometime and maybe even to return in a future year as a volunteer just as Alena and Sarah have. Finally, thank you again to all of our generous sponsors for helping make the camp a possibility. http://www.chess4girls.org/2017-nj-camp.html Caton (Step 4) won the lower section by 3-0, rating jumping by 212 and breaking through 1300.
