Good for Derek! Kudos to him! Chess is not your usual sport. It takes real intelligence and determination that is put into use to really make through a tournament. I’ve been playing chess since the 3rd grade when a friend taught it to me. I may not always have won back then but later I the chess club captain in my school. And only a few years back, I acted as coach to my chess club in the school where I taught. I always tell my students to always have the desire to make the plays until the end of the game. Always have foresight. It is really tough. So again, congrats, Derek!
